Robert Reid (footballer) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Robert Reid (footballer)
Robert Collinson Reid (born 1914) was an English amateur footballer who played one match for Southampton in the FA Cup in January 1935. He was the only player in the 20th century to have played in the FA Cup for Southampton without having made a Football League appearance for any club. ==Football career== Reid was born in Hove in East Sussex and represented Brighton Schools. He later played for Southwick in the Sussex County League and represented the Sussex F.A.〔 In January 1935, Southampton (members of the Football League Second Division), were drawn to play Birmingham in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup. Laurie Fishlock, the regular outside-left, who had scored two goals in the previous round was unfit following an injury in a league match, and the Saints had no other winger available. Southampton quickly registered Reid with the Football Association in time for the match. Unfortunately, Reid appeared to be "overawed by the experience" and Birmingham, of the First Division won the match comfortably 3–0. Reid remained with Southampton until the 1936 close season, making 33 appearances for the reserves, scoring six goals. He then joined Newport on the Isle of Wight.〔
